This enamel bag charm says itterashai in Japanese which translates as 'go and come back' in English. Which we take to mean 'safe travels'. Featuring a beautiful crysanthemum that symbolises (in this instance) love, joy and longevity. It's quite a masculine flower so I designed it to be unisex - a charm with a clip to attach to a rucksack (or hide in the luggage) when they're off adventuring without you... a much used expression in Japan - it's their version of 'see ya later' which I like to take as a promise... I can be quite intense!
Designed for my fluent Japanese speaking child on their journeying to live in Japan for a year. Could just as easily be a travel totem for a teen on their DofE or residential week... a non-religious version of a St. Christopher in essence!
